The ancient Greek Chorus is not just a plot device or a necessary form to introduce some kind of public opinion in the play.
It is a vehicle for expression, social and communal, and it presents a different way to create, organize and carry out a performance.
The performers in a chorus belong in a single body, while still retaining their individuality.
The chorus ultimately expresses a single opinion, but not every member of the Chorus is of the same opinion.

Inside the spirit of the chorus and its multiple dynamics we will search for this sense of commonality, discover these common opinions while being aware of any individual opinions that may be contrary to the group.
Through exercises for breath, voice and body we will work on our collective and individual empowerment and stage presence as performers.
Through our artistic dialogue and along with the materials that we will collect and synthesize during the workshop (texts, songs, moments from improvisations) we will create a communal piece, which, in the end, we will share with the public, with the bigger chorus.

Please bring with you:

• a song that you like (in any language, most preferably something traditional but not necessarily)
• a text that is close to your heart. The topic we propose is Elevation (as in rising up, standing up, the kind of elevation that is close to revelation and revolution).
• comfortable clothes, to run around and roll on the floor

The seminar will take place between 12-16 of June 10:00-17:00 (lunch included) .

The final Presentation will take place on the evening of 17 of June.

There is the possibility of hospitality at the place.

Psonopoulos Giorgos is a Drama School graduate, Faculty of Fine Arts, of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he completed studies in Acting, Directing and Dramatology.
The title of his master’s thesis is ‘’Two plus two equals five: Directorial readings of Bertolt Brechts plays in the National Theatre of Northern Greece (1956-2016), in comparison to the author’s theoretical works’’. Apart from his studies, he has year long experience in theatre praxis, as a director as well as an actor. He has attended seminars by the theatre group Song of the Goat, on the method of Theodoros Terzopoulos and on classical cambodian dance in Phare Ponleau Selpak, Battambang.

Anneta Chrysidou is a Greek actress. She discovered her passion for theater in 2015 by participating in local theater companies and undertaking various trainings of theater and dance in Thessaloniki.

There she starred in the play “The Balcony” by Jean Genet and directed the play “Rhinoceros” by Ionesco and did a tour all around Greece with the play “The tragedy inside of us” , a combination of myths of ancient tragedies.

Since 2019 she has been living in Paris, France. She graduated from the department of theater studies at the University of Sorbonne. Meanwhile, she studied acting in the Conservatory of Dramatic Art of the 12th arrondissement.

In 2022 she participated in the National Theater Festival of Milos, in production and artistic creation. She starred in the play “Cendres d’aucun feu” on the stage of the ancient theater of Milos, directed by Marcus Borja.

In 2023 she worked with Vivianna Chiotini and performed as part of her PhD research in the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique of Paris.

The concept of Anneta’s personal artistic research explores the different forms of ancient tragedy, its place and its influence in modern society artistically, philosophically and politically.
